"Ronnie Raygun" Was Right.

In the commentary section of the June 10 post "The Democrats," Ronald Reagan's SDI vision--and the Democrats' entrenched, ridiculing opposition to it-- was referenced vis-a-vis which was the party of science and progress.

"There's more to science than embryonic stem cells, transexual operations, and how Exxon-Mobil kills polar bears, Frankenstein," I reminded.

Nevertheless, a quarter of a century later, they haven't changed one damn bit:

"SDI...looooooooooooooooooooooooney toons. Dreams of a senile old fool."

That's what they insisted a quarter of a century ago.

I also reminded:

"Gorbachev didn't think so.

And according to progress reports, that 'dream' is quickly becoming a reality, troglodyte
."

Missile defense success: First intercept of warhead after separating from missile

WASHINGTONA U.S. missile defense system sought by several Middle East countries has intercepted a missile with a separating warhead.

A test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) successfully intercepted a warhead on June 25.

In the first such achievement, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD, shot down a target warhead that separated from the booster missile.

The June 25 test, which took place at the Pacific Missile Range Facility off the island of Kauai in Hawaii, marked the fifth successful intercept for the THAAD program in five attempts.

"The primary objective of this highly operationally realistic test was to demonstrate target acquisition, tracking and aimpoint selection by the avionics software contained in the THAAD interceptor, and to intercept a separating target," the U.S. Missile Defense Agency said.

One more time:

"SDI...looooooooooooooooooooooooney toons. Dreams of a senile old fool."

Thankfully, such flat-earthers are ignored for the fools that they are while real science marches on.

Please excuse the dhimminess of our liberal trolls. Liberals don't do science well. Just look at their man-made global warming theories. Can you say dogma? woof-woof!

The Reagan-hating liberals made all sorts of adamant denunciations against the SDI concept, starting with the idea that you could never shoot down a missile.

"It'd be like trying to hit a bullet with a bullet," it was sneered.

...the stock market

LOL! The Left has been doing everything in it's power to talk down the economy and stocks, and now expects us to take note of it? Why? It'll double in December regardless of who wins the presidency.

Er....yea...because it is obvious that there is NO WAY that people from another country would, say kill a lot of people here in the US?

Conspiracy freaks are all the same in that they have no hold on reality.

Well, we need a little refresher in basic logic.

Simply because a tairist would set off a bomb, it does not therefore follow that a Cheney psychopath wood not.

SDI was hyped - It may have fooled the Soviets, but it did not fool most American scientist (though most took the research money, natch!)

There was even a political lobby (High Frontier) that lobbied on behalf of contractors.

Perhaps all to the good - But did Reagan believe? Who cares

Hey John

I just actually read the post - Look, I read your blog from time to time. I think you mean well and you have a good heart and all that.

But you're a bit of tub thumper for your own team. Nothing wrong with cheerleading (just ask Trent, Dubya, and that other guy).

Anyway - I hate to burst your bubble - But a lot of these tests are rigged by contractors - They are set up by PR people.

That's not to say it cannot succeed.

Just, don't get too excited. OK?
