Bwahahahahaha
Not sure what was worse....Obama not knowing how to honor the flag or the perfectly wretched rendition of the National Anthem.....
He's a Socialist. He only pledges to the Internationale
Actually, I know putting one's hand over one's heart for the Pledge of Allegiance is required, but thinking so for the National Anthem might be a popular, perhaps romantic--or silly-- misconception(?), as Obama's defenders have argued. I really don't know (I usually do), but if so, Obama scores many points for actually doing the right thing (standing respectfully, not holding his hands back in protest, as interpreted) and not doing what the others are doing because they think they're supposed to, and calumny be damned.
Secondly, if, in fact, he was making some kind of anti-American statement (perhaps having never been proud of anything to sing about?)--which I think is unlikely-- he scores many points with me for integrity, as he was very public about it despite sharing the stage with his two primary opponents who obediently did what was expected despite sharing his socialist philosophies/sentiments, i.e. they're phonies, and he is not.
And if the latter, character integrity deserves respect (to a lesser or greater degree depending on the other aspects of that character), and I do like and respect Obama from what little I've seen and heard about the man (much more so than I like or respect Billary, or the porcine Richardson, who are both phonies engaging in a meaningless gesture there), but from what I've gleaned so far about Obama's politics (the most liberal voting record in the senate, by one count), respect and likeability aren't enough to support any candidacy for president.
P.S. FJ, R U serious?
Not for me. That came from my training in the Scouts I guess. That comes from the military tradition of saluting the flag as the national anthem is played.
Such as it is.
I think it is a pretty minor gaff, if that is what it is, compared to whoever it was that vocally slaughtered the Anthem in that video.
I agree that it was a minor thing. How much of this is tradition? Besides...this is really rather old news. I had seen this video months ago and I don't recall that it made much difference in my opinion of the man.
I am like John, in that I feel that Obama has some character integrity and yet that is not enough for me to vote for him come November.
As for the rendition of the National Anthem...I had to turn the the sound off just to finish watching....course I didn't even finish watching. That was dispicable!!
Hey Kelly, did you feel that earthquake?
That he's a socialist, yes...
John, no, but I heard all about it and some of the kids at the school here said they felt it. I wasn't even aware of it until someone asked if I had felt it.
The quake was centered around Elko, NV which is quite a distance from here.
FJ: No, that he recites the Internationale.
Kelly: I heard they felt it in Salt Lake City.
Not sure what part of Salt Lake City felt it. Anyone I have talked to on the West side of the county didn't feel it. I live some 25 miles from Salt Lake City and you would think that if they felt it I woulda felt it. But, no such luck.
to me it was like he was taking a stab at every patriot in the nation. he's definitely not presidential material - on ANY level.
i have an aunt and uncle in elko - i'll have to ask my mother how they fared in the quake.
"to me it was like he was taking a stab at every patriot in the nation. he's definitely not presidential material - on ANY level."
This is another reason we need to back McC...McC...McCain...there I got it out.
I really don't like this election year!
As for the earthquake, I heard it was centered in Wells..which isn't too far from Elko.
It's still a ways from here.
