So predictable.

News just broke that Vice President Cheney accidentally shot his friend, Harry Whittington, 78, during a quayle-hunting trip in Texas.

Newsworthy? Sure.

But now watch how many Left-wing editorials and posts in Bush-hating blogs will be devoted to how "fitting" it is for a "chickenhawk" to do such a thing and how it is some metaphor for the "debacle" in Iraq and the reckless, incompetent, "haphazard" gun-blazing venture which tries to shoot at something but hits something else--e.g. an innocent bystander-- with all such "brilliant," self-indulgent analyses excitedly scribbled with a barely-concealed--if not outright--gloating tone.

Bunk. Pure pettiness.

It was a hunting accident.

Update (Friday, February 17):

Good Lord. The magpies took this even further than I predicted, thinking they would only engage in the "This is indicative of the administration's m.o. and incompetence blah-blah," but they really went to town with this one.

"Cover-up"..."Unanswered questions"...Alcohol?..."

And, of course, Lou Dobbs on CNN--among others-- somberly sighing how this is indicative of the administration's m.o. and incompetence.

lol Magpies.

It was a hunting accident.

End of story.

Say it ain't so Joe! I'm baffled at all the so-called right-somethings whinging about (the liberal media's) coverage on Cheney's (attempt at murder); okay it was an 'accident'.

What I don't understand is: what do you get in return for (the brown-nosing) your support of Cheney? Where's the money, the booty, the terrific contracts? The only money you can get from this blogging business are a few sheckles for Amazon referrals and Doubleclickss.

Are you implying, sir (W.C. I presume) that political support for the Executive Branch of one's country can only be justified by personal, pecuniary profit?

Does that mean you are most self-evidently against this administration because there's "nothing in it" for you?

Anyway, since yesterday, the comedians went into overdrive on this one:

Late Night With Letterman: 4 jokes.

Tonight Show with Leno: 4 jokes.

Daily Show with Jon Stewart: 2 narrative jokes.

Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson: 4 jokes.

Easy, magpies. It was a hunting accident. A buddy was caught in the line of fire and got peppered with birdshot.

Correction: That doesn't sound like W.C.

The "left" wing would love to equate this with the Hamilton/ Burr incident...wouldn't they?

I was about to change the template like you recommended but I got a warning that "customizations will be lost," so I didn't, because I'm not sure what that means...

Should I go ahead and do it?

if you go ahead and change the template and then back...you won't lose any of your blog entries....if that is what you are concerned about.

I would say go ahead.

another thing you can try ...

change the archive option to weekly rather than monthly and see what that does...

oh, and change the number of entries per page to 3 or something like that.

It makes for less on a page and might help matters.

Okay, I'll get right on it. Thank you! :)

Try putting less entries per page.

What do you mean? Shorter posts?

7:04 PM
Blogger Kelly said...

I mean few posts per page.

Go into your blog settings. Select "Formatting". At the very top of the page it says "Show" and then gives you the option to choose how many days of posts are shown on a page.

I have mine at 7 days...you might want to put less than that per page. If you don't opt for anything it will got the whole month...and that might be causing the problem.

If you have any other problems with it please feel free to email me (kelly@paperclippings.com).
